Thinking of moving to Palm Beach, FL? This video above covers all the most important Pros and Cons to consider before making the big move to Palm Beach, FL. Palm Beach County is a great place to live. However, moving to a new area is a big decision. You need to consider all the positives and negatives. This post will cover some pros and cons of moving to Palm Beach, Florida.
The South Florida weather is one reason many people choose to move here. They imagine sunny days on beautiful beaches. We have a subtropical climate with two long seasons. One is a long summer from May to October. It’s hot but usually stays comfortable because of the sea breezes. Summer is also when we get most of our rain.
The “cooler” season is from late October to April. It rarely rains during this time of the year. While it is cooler, the temperatures do not get too low. During the coldest months, you can expect highs in the mid-seventies. It makes Palm Beach a great place for those who want to stay active and spend time outdoors all year.
Palm Beach County is also close to a lot of great stuff. As a part of the Miami Metropolitan area, Miami is close. You can be in the city in a little over an hour by car. We are less than three hours from Orlando and all the theme parks. You can also get to several other great places in the state in a short drive.
Florida is also a state with a friendly tax structure. Most notably, the state does not charge personal income tax. If you are moving from a state with income tax, it could save you a lot of money.
While the weather in Palm Beach is generally pleasant, it isn’t perfect. For one, the humidity can get high. You might find it uncomfortable at times if you don’t like humidity.
Another point concerning the weather is hurricane season. Florida is subject to big, destructive storms. Hurricane season runs from the end of May until the end of November. It is something to consider if you want to live here.
Some people might not like how crowded it can get during winter. People come from all over the country to escape harsh winters in other parts of the country. Depending on where you are in the county, it can make things crowded. There can also be issues with traffic during this time of year.
The cost of homes can be another con for Palm Beach County. Housing prices are a little higher around Palm Beach than in the rest of the country. However, it can depend on where you want to live in the county. As is true with most markets, prices vary depending on location.
